A team from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has located the wreck of the 623-foot USS Independence, an American light aircraft carrier that served in World War II before being rocked by two atomic blasts during the famous bomb tests at the Bikini Atoll. The ship was scuttled off the coast of San Francisco in 1951, but scientists say that it is still in remarkably good condition despite having spent more than 60 years underwater.
