Earth Sciences Talk on Post-Chernobyl and Fukushima Case Studies

Tomorrow, the Earth Sciences Division will hold a Distinguished Scientist Seminar Series featuring Mark Zheleznyak of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. His talk is titled “Model-Based Decision Support Systems for Environmental Emergency Management: Post-Chernobyl and Fukushima Case Studies.” He’ll discuss the results of long-term monitoring and modeling of radioactive contamination after the 1986 accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and the need for improving modeling and monitoring of flow and radioactive transport. The seminar begins at 10:30 a.m. in Building 50 Auditorium and will be followed by a question and answer session at 11:30 a.m.
